Interment followed in the Jimtown Cemetery.
Born October 22, 1935 at Leon, the daughter of Edgar and Viola Flatt Powell, she died Friday, January 10, 2014 in a Plano healthcare facility. Mrs. Hicks had been a resident of Love County before moving to the Plano area four year ago to make her home.
She and Delbert Hicks were married June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1994.
A beautician, Mrs. Hicks enjoyed living and working on the ranch, especially caring for the cattle. She also loved to cook, garden, feed hummingbirds, and read, most of all, the Bible. Glenda was a very selfless person who enjoyed doing things for others. She was definitely not afraid of work and always wanted to be busy. She truly loved her grandchildren and will be remembered as a great mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Marietta’s First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Billy Powell and an infant brother.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mark Graybill of Plano; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Tommy Hartman of Sanger, Texas and Barbara and Dale Davenport of Decatur, Texas; and two grandsons, Brian and Cameron Graybill.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Hartman, Steve Hartman, Lavon Hicks, Terry Mitchell, Brian Stokes and Bill McGill. Honorary bearers were Mackie Frazier, Nathan Waldron, Joel Hicks, Johnny Hall and Joe Robnett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Madill, c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, 100 East Main St., Marietta, OK 73448.
