Interment will follow in the Jimtown Cemetery.
Born February 2, 1932, at Waycross, Georgia, the daughter of Walter and Sarah Kay Swilling Rawlins, she died Monday, December 3, 2018, in Medical City of Dallas. Betty met her future husband, Nolen Edward Hicks in Houston and on February 9, 1958, the couple married and moved to Irving, Texas where she worked as an account manager for Southwestern Bell. Betty enjoyed working in the church, playing the piano, singing with Nolen, and attending Sunday School and other church activities. She also loved cooking and hosting family, friends, and church missionaries. In 2007 the couple retired and moved to Burneyville to make their home.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Nolen on November 7, 2016; her parents; and two brothers, Ed Goodwin and Billy Goodwin.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Hicks and wife Sandy of McKinney, Texas and Randell Hicks and wife Sandee of Irving; five grandchildren, Lindsay Hicks, Bethany Hicks, Brandon Hicks, Ryan Hicks, and Rachel Lee; and a great-grandson, Crander Lee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Thomas Hicks, Danny Hicks, Allen Hicks, and Monte Dinwiddie. Honorary bearers are Mike Hicks, Mark Hicks, Nolen Wayne Hicks, Jeff Hicks, and Jamie Hicks.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 7 at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Burneyville Baptist Church or the Jimtown Cemetery Fund.
