Services for Merlin “Lewis” Blakley, 78, of Burneyville were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 15 in the Jimtown Baptist Church with Pastor Ryan Eakins officiating.

Interment followed in the Jimtown Cemetery.

Born August 5, 1942 at Jimtown, the son of Jim Ed and Flossie “Sis” Harris Blakley, he died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Mercy Love County Hospital, Marietta. Lewis was a lifelong resident of Love County and graduated from Leon High School with the Class of 1960. All his life he was a peanut farmer and rancher. He married the love of his life, Donna Skidmore on January 10, 1986 in Gainesville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Ed and Sis Blakley; son, Scott Robison; brother, Arch Allen Blakley; sister, Winefred Hignight; nieces, Lisa Parker and Monica Lester; nephews, Brad Blakley and Brandy Blakley; and brothers-in-law, Bob Bell, Monte Hignight, and Gary Skidmore.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home; brother, James Blakley and wife Barbara of Wilson; and sisters, Lois Parker and husband Mike of Burneyville and Linda Bell of Ardmore.

Serving as pallbearers were Lance Parker, Wayland Brown, Thomas Hicks, Joel Hicks, Dewey Hicks, and Don Reed.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ardmore Animal Shelter, 321 Carol Brown Boulevard, Ardmore, OK 73401, (580) 223-7070, or to the charity of one’s choosing.
