Services for James E. “Jimmy” Watson, 54, of Locust Grove, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, in the Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta, with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating.

Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville. Arrangements are being directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.

Born July 27, 1951, in Mesa, Arizona, the son of James E. Watson Jr. and Jackie Morgeson Watson, he died Sunday, August 28, 2005 in the Mayes County Medical Center, Pryor. A resident of the Locust Grove area for the past seven years, Mr. Watson had previously lived and worked in Love County. A graduate of Marietta High School, he attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, majoring in wildlife biology. He and Susan Ann Winters were married January 3, 2000, in Mayes County. Mr. Watson served in the U.S. Army and upon his return to Marietta, he operated a service station. He also served in law enforcement as Sheriff of San Juan County, Colorado and also as a deputy in several other cities. For the past 20 years, he had been employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Division, as supervisor over Animal Damage Control. As a part of his service, Mr. Watson did predator control from helicopters. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Mr. Watson was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Watson of the home; mother, Jackie Watson of Greenville; two daughters and son-in-law, Lanell Watson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Johanna and Chris Barrick of Leon; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dennis ad Nancy Watson of Miami and Kent Watson of Bangkok, Thailand; and two granddaughters, Christyn Barrick and Ashlyn Barrick.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Watson Jr. on August 28, 1994.

Pallbearers will be Chris Barrick, Grant Watson, John Steuber, Kevin Grant, Bob Mullinax and Byron Lamb. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Division.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 1, at the funeral home.
