Mr. Henderson was born December 15, 1951, and died January 2, 1993, as a result of injuries received in a car accident in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Bryant, Arkansas, and was a member of several state and national court reporting associations. Mr. Henderson attended schools in Ft. Worth, Texas, Pleasant View Junior High and Golden, Colorado High School where he starred as a member of the wrestling teams and won a state championship in his division. His last year of high school was in Glasgow, Montana, where he received a college scholarship for his wrestling endeavors but opted to enter the U.S. Marine Corps. He was promoted to Lance Corporal upon completion of boot camp. Mr. Henderson then served six months in Vietnam and was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He remained in the Marine Corps for eight years, receiving several meritorious citations and decorations and was honorably discharged as a Marine Staff Sergeant. Upon separation from the Marines, he entered Court Reporting School in Denver, Colorado, and was graduated from a two-year course in less than 1-1/2 years. He served as a court reporter for over 10 years and was certified in several states and nationally. His last job was in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of the home in Malvern, Arkansas; two sons, Kelly Henderson of Lakewood, Colorado, and Mark Henderson of Falbrook, California; three stepchildren, Teresa Hunt, James Henderson and Becky Poindexter, all of Arkansas; his parents, Calvin Henderson, Sr. and Rachel Henderson of Olney; a brother, Clay Henderson of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; four sisters, Marilyn Ginn of Cleburne, Texas, Merna Gilcrease of Keller, Texas, Brenda Smith of Arlington, Texas, and Carol Yeager of Trophi Club, Texas; 16 nieces and nephews, several grand nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Local services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Nephews served a(s) pallbearers.
