Interment followed in the Greenville Cemetery.
Born August 20, 1946, in Marietta, the son of Adren D. and Elsie Lucille Chitwood Dees, he died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at his residence at Greenville.
Mr. Dees was raised at Shady Dale and continued to make his home there until moving to Greenville in July 2009. He was a 1965 graduate of Marietta High School. Mr. Dees and the former Linda Carol Thompson were married in Marietta on December 12, 1964. He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, as well as working as a carpenter building homes and working in the oil field and refineries. Mr. Dees enjoyed traveling, doing woodwork projects in his shop and family gatherings, especially Christmas which was his favorite holiday. In recent years, he treasured time spent visiting with friends and family. Mr. Dees dearly adored his grandchildren and loved every moment spent with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Dees of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Carolyn Dees of Greenville and Dan and Jennifer Dees of Ardmore; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Maxine Dees of Marietta; a sister, Brenda Hull of Shady Dale; six grandchildren, Lindsei Dees, Larry Don Dees, Danielle Dees, Mackinzy Dees, Byron Reed and wife, Gayla and Brian Reed and wife, Kelly; and two great-grandchildren, Gage Reed and Kaden Reed.
Serving as pallbearers were Jay Thompson, Tom Thompson, Ben Thompson, Larry Don Dees, Brian Reed and Roy Brown. Honorary bearers were his nieces and nephews and their spouses and all former co-workers.
Memorials may be made to Faith Hospice or the church of one’s choice.
