Services for J.C. Montgomery, Jr., 87, of Eastman were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8 in the Eastman Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Lansdale officiating and Pastor Brandon Twyford assisting. Interment followed in the Eastman Cemetery.
 
Born November 25, 1933 at Hobart, the son of James Clarence and Zella Evelyn Richman Montgomery, he died Monday, July 5, 2021.
 
J.C. was a graduate of the Meadowbrook High School Class of 1952. He was the starting point guard for the 1951 and 1952 Oklahoma Class C State Basketball Championship teams. J.C. married his high school sweetheart, Rowena Williams on December 6, 1951 in Marietta. After graduation, J.C. was employed with Southwestern Bell from 1952 until his retirement in 1986. He also was the owner/operator of Sooner Cable TV from 1971 until 1986. J.C. was a deacon and church treasurer of the Eastman Baptist Church and a chairman for the Eastman Volunteer Fire Department. J.C. was a very strong-willed and caring man who loved his family.
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by son, J.D. Montgomery; sisters, Mary Brimager, Bobbie Cox, and Thelma Hitt; granddaughter, Trinity Montgomery; and son-in-law, Randy May.

Survivors include his wife, Rowena Montgomery of the home; son, Tim Montgomery and wife Donna of Santee, California; daughters, Leeanne May of Sherman, Texas and Angie Fisher and husband Chet of Melissa, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
 
Casket bearers were his grandsons. Honorary bearers were the Eastman Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, Harold White, Chet Fisher, Bub Williams, Charles Willis and Buford Rackley.

Contributor's Note: J.C. Jr. is my first cousin. His Dad is my Dad's older brother. His wife, Rowena, is my Mother's first cousin, so my 2nd. Their children are my double cousins.
