Services for Pearlene Anderson, 57, will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Marietta's
First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. W.C. Cotton, Rev. Charles Wallace
and Rev. Tommy Higle.
Mrs. Anderson was born October 12, 1939, at Gainesville, Texas, and died August
24, 1997, in the Love County Health Center. She was the daughter of David and
Blanche Cheatham Simmons and the foster daughter of Bettie and John Anderson.
A resident of Love County most of her life, she married Cecil Roy "C.R."
Anderson on October 13, 1962, in Marietta. She worked with the Kindergarten
class at Turner School for five years, at the Marietta Bakery for many years,
and was currently a Social Worker II at the Department of Human Services where
she had been employed for the past 25 years.
Mrs. Anderson was one of the charter members of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of
Marietta 27 years ago and also served as church clerk and pianist. She was a
board member of the Big Five Program, a member of the local Martin Luther King
Committee and was involved in several of the area youth programs.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Roy "C.R." Anderson, Sr. of the home of
Marietta; three sons, Mark Lornes of Woodford, Marvin Gaines of Tulsa and Jr.
Anderson of Gainesville; two daughters, Judy Bias of Norman and Diana Anderson
Burns of Marietta; a grandson, Jonathan; five granddaughters, Veronica, Natasha,
Natlie, Marissa and Nicole; and three step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; first
husband, Jesse Lornes on December 24, 1959; and two sons, Ronald Lornes on
January 18, 1958, and Arnold Lornes on May 16, 1981.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in
Dunbar Cemetery, Burneyville. Pallbearers will be Dennis Rambo, Bo Dailey, Neil
Robnett, Larry Gaines, Willie Gaines, Jr. and Anthony Brown. Honorary bearers
will be Billy Rambo, Ed Lee, Joe Graham, Arber Murray, Steve Longest and Harold
Douglas, Jr. Assisting as flower girls will be Shannon Robnett, LaVetta
Douglass, Kim Swift, Linda Grisham, Sammie Lornes and Cathrine Rambo.
