Mr. Willard was born August 15, 1972 in Boulder, Colorado, the son of Dale C. & Myra E. Jenkins Willard. He died March 8, 2000 at Salida, Colorado. He had lived in Gunnison for the past three years, previously living in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Willard graduated from Fairview High in 1991 and was currently a senior at Western State University in Gunnison studying fine arts with an emphasis in sculpture. He wanted to teach art in high school after his graduation in December of this year. Mr. Willard lived in Colorado all of his life and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, snowboarding, kayaking and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mr. Willard was killed in a car accident with his beloved Emily Hynes. When he was five and a half years old, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized in Longmont, Colorado. He loved Jesus and is now with him.
Survivors include his parents, Dale & Myra Willard of Lafayette,
Colorado; grandmother, Thelma Willard of Burneyville; one brother,
Cameron Willard of Cambridge, Massachusetts; two sisters, Stephanie
Browning of Chicago, Illinois, and Cecily Willard of Lafayette;
uncles and aunts, Roger & Janice Willard of Burneyville, and Dorothy
& Wells Stevens of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many cousins, great
aunts and uncles and a host of friends.
Services were under the direction of Kennedy
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Western State University
Fine Arts Department of
Gunnison, Colorado 81230.
