Charles Ed “Freight Train” Lain, 58, of Ardmore, left this earth on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He passed at the family farm with his family, friends, and dog Bear by his side.

Charles was born April 30, 1963 to the late Charles Dwayne and Virgie Christine Walker Lain of Burneyville.

He graduated from Turner High School and attended Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas for two years, where he made lifelong friends.

Charles worked various jobs through his adventurous life, consisting of working in a restaurant in Padre, Texas to driving a truck, and owning an advertising business in Laguna Beach, California. Over the years, Charles worked for the Deere’s in Ardmore selling T-shirts and caps, and later for the MFG Company selling storm shelters. In the last three years, he became an asset for DMM Manufacturing, where he will be greatly missed.

Charles was saved by our Lord and Savior last year in October. He was baptized August 8, 2021 with family and friends attending.

His dream was to move to an old Tuscan estate and cook “home cooked food” for everyone he knew. His passions were cooking with extra large cookware, gardening, throwing lavish parties, traveling, snow skiing, and visiting lakes, oceans, rivers, and the mountains.

Charles was known for his very colorful life, having never met a stranger, and for being the best trip guide ever! He was President of the Party Board Meetings and always the life of the party! His life will go down in history as the Charles Ed Era…He will be very missed by All.

Survivors include his mother, Christine; two sisters, Ramona Lain Duke of Saint Jo, Texas and Cathy Lain Arthur of Dickson; two brothers, Rodney Lain of Burneyville and Raymond Lain of Ardmore; many nieces and nephews; and uncle, Gerald Robert Lain and wife Kathryn of Gunnison, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dwayne Lain; grandparents, Charles H. and Sylvia Leona Lain and Dr. Ethel M. Walker, M.D.; two uncles, Forrest Gene Lain and Royce Glen Lain; and an aunt, Norma Lain.

Family graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 4 at the Burneyville Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice, 207 C Street Northwest, Ardmore, OK 73401 or the Ardmore Animal Care Shelter, 321 Carol Brown Boulevard, Ardmore, OK 73401.

A photo of Mr. Lain was included in his obituary.
