Private graveside services for Billie John Gipson, 79, of Jimtown, will be held at Burneyville Cemetery with Pastor Ryan Eakins officiating.

Born May 10, 1941 at Ringling, the son of W.R. and Dovie I. Trimble Gipson, he died Friday, January 8, 2021 at his residence.

Billie was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Leon High School with the class of 1959 in Leon. He continued his education at Murray State College. On April 10, 196? Billie married his bride Peggy Kay Harrill at Leon. After college, he traveled throughout the state of Oklahoma working for Western Welding Supply for 37 years. In 1987, he returned to Burneyville and operated Gipson’s General Store where he enjoyed buying and selling things. Billie was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Benny Gipson, and sister-in-law, Rebecca Gipson.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gipson of the home; two sons, Dewayne Gipson and wife Lisa of Guymon and Michael Gipson and fiancée Andi Jo McVay of Ardmore; daughter, Rhedonna Kay Gipson Ralls and husband Phillip of Thackerville; six grandchildren, J.J. Ralls, Jessie Gipson, Ember Ralls Schaffer, Kathryn Gipson Benedict, Tere Ralls, and Ryan Ralls; and five great-grandchildren + one-on-the-way.

Honorary bearers were Phillip Ralls, J.J. Ralls, Jessie Gipson, Robert Schaffer, Robert Teafatiller, Matt Benedict, Tommy Daughtrey, Mike Parker, Tommy Hartman, Gene Rhoades, Nickie Henson, Kaleena Burton, Jennifer Porterfield, and the Leon domino players.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill.
