Vivian Lucille (Barrick) Bone

Vivian L. Bone was born June 2, 1925, at Orr, OK, the daughter of John Henry and Bonnie Mae Benson Barrick. She passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 87. A resident of Love County most of her life, she graduated from Burneyville High School where she enjoyed playing basketball.
 
She and Claude James Bone were married February 4, 1946, in Gainesville, TX, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2009. Mrs. Bone was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She loved her family and was a special "Mama" and "Nana" to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition she was a great cook . . . some of her specialties were peanut brittle, special jalapeno cornbread and yummy dill pickles. She also made beautiful quilts as well as having an excellent flower and vegetable garden each year.
 
Of all of her activities, her favorite was fishing on the banks of Red River. However, she also enjoyed sports. She was an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. Mrs. Bone was of the Baptist faith. 
 
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Edgar, Fred, Ray, Charlie, Frank and J.T. Barrick; and three sisters, Velma Jones, Bessie Smith and Juanita Idell.
 
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James Euel and Judy Bone of Oklahoma City, OK; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Kenneth Thacker of Lone Grove, OK, Paula and Luke Hall of Jimtown, OK and Susan and Joe Bell of Marietta, OK; sister, Lois Townsend of Oklahoma City, OK: 10 grandchildren, Sandra Henderson, Shelley Thompson, Jamie and Jason Reed, Ben and Kodi Bone, Melane and Andy Scates, Leah and Joe Ivy, David and Karla Bell, Amy and John Paul Alexander, Jeff and Kelly Hall and Christie Wharton; 15 great-grandchildren, Andy and Charley Bone, Nicholas and Clayton Reed, Nathan Henderson, Wyatt and Eric Thompson, Travis and Cason Scates, Taylor Ivy, Colton Hall, Austin Bell, Rylee and Mya Alexander and Eli Wharton; and a host of nieces and nephews. 
 
Serving as bearers will be nephews, Corky Cartwright, Sidney Smith, Bill H. Smith, Stan Idell, Mike Barrick, Vernon Barrick, Jay Barrick and Larry Barrick. Honorary bearers are Ted Freeman, Dr. Tom O'Connor and the staff of Lake Country Nursing Center.
