Posted by Martha Reddout

Services for Ramona Blankenship, 92, of Marietta were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 12 in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Higle officiating.

Interment followed in the Bourland-Belleville Cemetery, Courtney.

Born April 1, 1921 at Petersburg, the daughter of P.G. and Ruby Longest Hogue, her heavenly father called her home Saturday, November 9, 2013 in The Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta. Mrs. Blankenship was a homemaker and a farmer, as well as working a few years at the pants factory. She married Arthur Blankenship on January 8, 1937 in Ryan, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1990. A true and devout Christian woman, she was an example to all her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Leoda Davis, Roberta Atkins and Virginia May; and a brother, Duane Hogue.

Survivors include her children, Marquita Evans of Ringling and Haskell and Brenda Blankenship of Tyler, Texas; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Rebecca Atkins of Henrietta, Texas, Roxanna Cox of Bridgeport, Texas and Carra Sue Davis of Ardmore and many nieces and nephews Aunt “Monie” loved dearly.

Serving as pallbearers were Joe Martin, Paul Riley, Bud Barnes and Robert Groves. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons and a great-grandson.

The family suggests memorials be made to Marietta’s First Baptist Church Building Fund.

This obituary included a picture of Mrs. Blankenship.

Contributor’s Note: I was fortunate to have known Mrs. Blankenship as my Mother counted her as one of her best friends. She was truly a great Christian witness.
