Mr. Blankenship was born December 23, 1921, at Courtney and died December 4, 1994, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. He was the son of Earl and Tilda Welch Blankenship. A resident of Courtney all of his life, he married Opal Brintle June 25, 1942, at Montague, Texas. Mr. Blankenship was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Belleville Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge at Cornish.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Blankenship of the home at Courtney; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sherian Blankenship of Courtney; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Cotton Grant, also of Courtney; a sister, Clara Smith of Lone Grove; and five grandchildren, DeAnne White, Lisha Scifres, Kevin Grant, Larry Don Blankenship and Kerry Blankenship.
Interment in the Bourland Cemetery, Courtney, was directed by the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Tankie Spivey,
Donald Thompson, Gene Jackson, Tommy Throckmorton, Randy Thompson
and James Glenn.
