Lavaughn Mae Bulling
Born: July 06, 1936
Died: December 09, 2010

Lavaughn Mae Bulling was born 74 years ago on July 6, 1936 and went to Heaven on December 9, 2010. She lived in Orlando, OK where she and her husband, John, of 53 years raised four children and operated a cattle ranch.

Lavaughn grew up in Ripley, OK and was one of three children born to the late Opal and Clyde Robison. She attended Ripley Public Schools and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a Bachelors of Art in Music. She was a drum majorette for the OSU Marching Band and a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.

After graduation she taught music at Perry High School then went on to teach at Mulhall-Orlando High School for 10 years. Under her tutelage, the glee clubs won numerous awards for their choral achievements at Tri-State and State competitions. She left her career in music to help her husband run their Hereford Cattle Ranch, which as time passed, turned into a feeder/stocker cattle operation. She volunteered her time and passion for music as the choral director and organist at the Orlando Methodist Church for 52 years.

Lavaughn loved listening and singing to all types of music, with a special fondness for contemporary religious music. She loved playing the piano and organ and dazzled us with her expertise. She was also well-known for her cooking abilities. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, reading, and giving advice to her children and grandchildren.

Lavaughn touched the lives of so many people and was the “glue” for her family. She had an uncanny ability to know when her family or friends needed comfort, a listening ear, or a heart-felt word; and had the ability to deliver exactly was needed. Family was her life and always came first.

Lavaughn is survived by her husband John, their four children, Teri Hirlinger, Rene Rodgers, Chris Bulling, and Scott Bulling. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her brother Emmet Robison.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Orlando United Methodist Church with Pastor Adrian Pollard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.
