Richard Berry was called home on June 18, 1955 in Oklahoma City after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Tulare County, California on March 2, 1947 he was the son of Robert & Armeta Berry. He was a talented athlete receiving a full scholarship to Central State where he earned a B.S. in Education and an M.B.A. after graduating from Guthrie High (1965).

He returned to Guthrie Schools as an educator, then as a counselor at Star Spencer High and later as a Psychology professor at Oscar Rose College.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents & brother David.

He leaves behind a son Richard Jr. and wife of Lexington, Ky., sister Iris of Guthrie, OK; brother Leonard of Chandler, AZ; half-sister Nadine Walker of Texas; half-brother Cebon Berry of Texarkana, AR and a countless number of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Oklahoma City, OK.

Richard accomplished great things in his life. One being his induction into the Guthrie Hall of Fame for basketball, football and track.

Services will be held Saturday,June 24, at 10 a.m at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Meridian. Interment will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Meridian, Oklahoma
