Leon Winters, 68, of Guthrie, OK passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Leon was born to Malcolm Carl and Vada (Pritchett) Winters. He married Mary Lou Webb in 1962. After her death in 1997, on January 1, 1998 he married Alice (Warren) Woodard. He was a member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Kiwanis Club, and the Teamsters Union 886. He served four years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Rainbo (EarthGrains) Baking Company in 1998 after 35 years. He was most recently employed at Warren Monument until May 2007.
He is survived by his wife Alice of the home, one daughter Christina Dawn Woods of Newalla, OK, three step-sons Bryan Woodard, Kenton Woodard and wife Jenifer of Guthrie, and Gregg Woodard of Amarillo, TX, one sister Shirley Smith of Guthrie, eleven grandchildren Jason, Stephanie, Michael Ryan, Stephen, David, Gloria, Sean, Danyell, Alex, Beth, and Catie Woodard, and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Mary Lou, mother and father Malcolm Carl and Vada, step-father Marvin Grindle, and brother-in-law Bill Ed Smith.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
