Louella Merle (Johnson) Williams, 98, of Guthrie, OK passed from this world into her Heavenly Father's arms on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She was born July 22, 1921 to Walter and Rose (Walker) Johnson in Guthrie.
She grew up and attended school at Camp Russell. Her future husband was a handsome young soldier who won the bid for her lunch box dinner at a Church social. She married Vernon Richard Williams on April 1, 1944. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before Vernon passed. Their union was blessed with three children: Larry (Lela) Williams, Karen (Paul) Austin, and Richard (Diana) Williams.
Louella and Vernon raised their family in Guthrie. She worked at Stouts Greenhouse, Midway Grocery, and the Oklahoma Furniture Factory. She was a volunteer at the Highland Hall Aging Services helping with Meals on Wheels. Louella enjoyed helping Vernon on projects around the farm, gardening, riding horses and traveling."Granny Lou" thoroughly enjoyed her three grandsons, Larry Ray Williams, Perry (Melody) Williams, and Brian Williams. She was an avid fan of all their activities, playing games, watching them build towns for their toy cars and sorting football cards.
She was a woman with an open heart and home, hosting many large gatherings of family and friends. If company needed to stay the night, she always made them a cozy place to sleep.
Louella is preceded in death by her parents; her twin infant brother; and her siblings, Aaron (Lavera) Johnson, Vernie Johnson, Jimmie (Ethel) Johnson, Roy (Inez) Johnson, Velma (Paul) McCoy, and Orval Johnson.
She is survived by her children, grandsons, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, sister-in-law, Norma Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Louella will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, Oklahoma City, OK office, 7000 North Western Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.
