Larry A. Watson, at the age of 76, passed away July 21, 2012 at Mercy Hospital with family members by his side. He was born September 4, 1935 in Crescent, OK to Lynn C. Watson and Ruth Inez (Ward) Watson.
Larry proudly served in the United States Army. He was inducted July 28, 1954, serving during the Korean War, and discharged June 11, 1957. Shortly thereafter, he met Dorothy Faye Lindgren and they were married December 18, 1959. They settled in Guthrie, OK where they raised their family of four and celebrated 52 years of marriage. Larry worked as a carpenter throughout his life before retiring from Tinker Air Force Base. He will be greatly missed by many and will forever be remembered for his playful and engaging nature. He was extremely supportive of his children and took an active role in their interests, usually as a “coach”. Larry’s positive influence on others was felt beyond his family which was easily seen in the relationships he built with others and continued throughout his life. Larry Watson was a man who made a difference in people’s lives.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers Neal, Clifford, Jesse, Jerry, Pat, and Mike, and three sisters Eva, Betty, and Edna.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; children, Andy Watson (Laura) of Shreveport, LA, Janet White (Kevin) of Guthrie, Charles Watson of Beggs, OK, and Kenton Watson (Dani) of Guthrie; eight grandchildren, Jade, Cameron, and Avery of Shreveport, LA and Kris (Lauri), Kyle, Chelsey, Josie, and Reid all of Guthrie; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Lilliana of Guthrie; and one sister, Floris Weber of Dover, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Living Water Assembly of God Church with Reverends Randy Whitlow and Michael Dwaileebe officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity, cancer research, or Living Water Church.
Visitation will be held Monday, 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
