Grace Adaleene Watkins was born in Teague, Texas, on March 23, 1908, and passed away on January 11, 2008, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Grace was the daughter of Josephine Duckworth Doolittle and Oscar Frederick Doolittle of Springfield, Missouri. She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary Smith and husband, Dwayne, of Guthrie and Gay Mathewson and husband, Ron, of Englewood, Colorado, grandson, Michael Mathewson of Denver, Colorado, and granddaughter, Amy Fitch and husband, Shannon, of Centennial, Colorado. Other survivors include two nephews, two nieces, and one sister-in-law. Her brother, Ross Doolittle, and sisters, Gladys Doolittle and Nellie Hooper precede her in death.
Grace married Edward Frances “Doc” Watkins on October 7, 1933, in Guthrie and they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
A private burial was held at Summit View Cemetery and followed by a celebration service at her daughter, Rosemary’s home in Guthrie on Monday, January 14, 2008.
Grace’s daughters thank the dedicated staff at Golden Age Nursing Home for the care and attention given to their Mother.
Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
