Graveside services for James "Leslie" Wamsley, Guthrie, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at Summit View Cemetery, Don Riepe, minister of Guthrie Christian Church, officiating, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Guthrie.
James was born Aug. 4, 1912, to Zeta and Harry Wamsley in Guymon. He passed from this life Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Logan Hospital and Medical Center, Guthrie.
James married Geraldine Stitzel on July 9, 1938, in Guthrie. To this union, two sons were born: Ronald James and Jerry Earl.
James worked in the oil fields for many years and retired from Harper-Turner Oil Company. After his retirement, he and Geraldine and son Jerry and wife owned and operated Wamsley's Dairy Cream in Guthrie. He retired from that business in the late 70's.
James and Geraldine loved to travel. They enjoyed many years together in their motor home and made many lifelong friends.
Survivors include two sons; Ronald and wife Alta, and Jerry and wife Sharron, all of Guthrie, two half-sisters: Harriet Berry, Tulsa, and Rebecca Hamil, Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends and his church family whom he loved. James was a member of Guthrie Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 1995, his mother and father, two brothers and a half-sister.
Visitation for friends and family will be held until 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. with special family visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
