Graveside funeral services for Georgia Claudine Townsend, 98, of Edmond, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, OK with Marilyn Williams of Guthrie and Jay Parks of Luther, OK officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Georgia was born on December 29, 1909 in Valley Center, KS to Ezra Leland and Nina Frances (Clarkson) Spore. She died Saturday, May 24, 2008 in Guthrie.
Georgia married Charles V. Townsend on May 27, 1938 in Wichita, KS. She was an elementary school teacher in Wynnewood, OK for several years before moving to Guthrie where Charles and she ran the Masonic Homes of Oklahoma for 20 years. She served as the Assistant Administrator for the Masonic Homes. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women of Guthrie, and the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Webb of Edmond; three grandchildren, Doyle E. Webb, Jr. and wife Jan of Guthrie, Holly Parks and husband Jay of Luther, and Jane Webb of Oklahoma City, OK; six great-grandchildren, Michael Merritt, Rebecca Webb, Katie Reeves and husband Jerred, Kelley Webb, Colby Parks and fiancé Lindsey Friggel, and Mackenzie Parks; and one great-great grandchild, Caden Parks.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997; one son, Charles Townsend, Jr. in 1968; and five brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home until 5 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
