Elaine Thompson, 84, loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away July 10, 2011. She was born May 27, 1927 in Nowata, OK to Fern and Glenn Offenbacker.
Elaine grew up in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Central High School. She became employed by Southwestern Bell, as a telephone operator and met Charlie Thompson through the telephone lines as she connected a call for him. They married on May 24, 1947 and shared 59 years of marriage together. After living in Tulsa and Albuquerque, NM, they retired to Guthrie, OK in 1980.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband Charlie and her brother Tommy.
She is survived by her two daughters Judy Fisher and her husband Don and Debbie Shannon and her husband Dennis, all of Edmond, OK and grandchildren Tammy Fisher of Edmond, Kari Johnston of Arlington, TX, T.J. Rogers of Austin, TX, and Melissa Dill of Edmond. Elaine had one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons; as well as a host of loved nieces and nephews and other loved family and friends. She will be missed by her loving kitty, Asia.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. At the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Burner and the staff of Mercy Hospice for their loving care of Elaine.
