Funeral services for Mona Lea Taliaferro, age 83, of Guthrie, OK., were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2005 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dennis Clark of First Christian Church of Guthrie, OK, officiating. Burial followed in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, OK under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Mona Lea was born in Marshall Oklahoma on July 20, 1922 to William Edward and Sallye Lenore (Potter) Heydman. She died on June 19, 2006 at her home in Guthrie.
Mona Lea was a member of First Christian Church, Guthrie, OK, and loved to go out and eat with her church friends. She graduated from Marshall High School, Marshall, OK in 1940.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delrain, in 1972, one brother, LaVerne Heydman and one sister Frances Wittman.
She is survived by her son Gary Don Taliaferro Portland OR; her brothers Irvan Heydman and wife Awanda, Oklahoma City, and Blayne Heydman and wife Aline, Oklahoma City. She is also survived by sister Ruby Schoeling and husband, Keith Covington, OK ; sister-in-law Dorothy Heydman, Enid, OK.; niece, Cheri Jackson and husband, Jack, Oklahoma City and two nephews, Max Kaiser and wife Katie, Enid, OK and Mike Kaiser and wife Terry, Covington, OK.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3545 North West 58, Suite 400C, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
The casket will not be opened at any time.
