Loraine Sullivan was born on Feb. 2, 1920 in Langston, Okla. to William Jackson, Sr. and Vera Young Jackson. She attended Langston Public Schools. Loraine was employed by Langston University where she retired in 1979.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Guthrie, Okla.
Loraine Jackson and Robert "Bob" Sullivan were united in marriage on July 11, 1939. Loraine, who was better known to family and friends as "Bay," was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a caring attitude and a loving heart towards anyone she came in contact with. Her hobbies included playing dominoes, cards, bingo and fishing. She departed this life on Jan. 15, 2001.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, one brother, and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Robert Sullivan, Jr. (Loretha), Oklahoma City, Okla., Raymond Sullivan, Guthrie, Ronnie Sullivan (Brenda), Spencer, Okla.; four daughters and one stepdaughter, Thecil Bennett (Terry), Guthrie, Shelia Henderson (Roy), Oklahoma City, Brenda Bufford (Geary), Guthrie, Debra Sullivan (Gary), Oklahoma City and Barbara Jean McHenry, Oakland, Calif.; one brother, Robert Earl Jackson (Christine), Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Helloise Jackson and Lois Jackson, Kansas City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear and loving friends, especially Margo Thomas and Jeannie Broussard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1314 East Vilas, Guthrie. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. Friday until 8 p.m.
