Funeral services for Wanda Stout, 93, of Guthrie, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Poplar and Warner Church of Christ with Minister Rob Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Wanda was born on May 4, 1919, in Guthrie to Herbert W. and Sigrid (Sorensen) Spencer. She passed from this life to her Heavenly home on August 22, 2012, after a brief stay at Willow Creek Health Care Center.
She was a graduate of Guthrie High School and of Hill’s Business College (OKC). She married George Stout on May 16, 1942, in Perry, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and participated in various Bible studies, as well as being a dedicated homemaker. She was especially known for her “white divinity” and many baked goods.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Groom and husband Steve of Guthrie and Joyce Watkins and husband Ray of Ellicott, Maryland; two grandchildren, Cathie Smith and husband Chris of Kingwood, Texas and David Groom and wife Jenny of Burbank, California; and four great-grandchildren, Caylee, Cayleb, and Caytlin of Kingwood, Texas and "Baby G" (due at this time) in Burbank, California. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents and her husband George in January 2001.
At the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help support a missionary family serving in France by sending it to: Hendrix Mission Fund, c/o Church of Christ, 320 North Poplar, Guthrie, OK 73044.
