L. Pauline Stephens, 86, died Thursday, January 14, 2021. Pauline was born on April 29, 1934, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Awdra and August Marquardt.
Pauline graduated from Guthrie High School in 1952, and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone the year of her graduation. She later retired from the company with 40 years of service.
She is remembered by her loved ones for her fondness of animals, especially cats. She was a talented seamstress who made an array of garments for family and friends.
She enjoyed Bingo and the casino, square dancing, and observing life in her neighborhood. Pink was truly her favorite color. Pauline was also known for her independence, her sharp wit and love of laughter, and the great pride she took in her work.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Delmar Eugene, Leon Louis, and Glenn Dale Marquardt.
She is survived by her daughter Terreca Lindsay and son Troy Cantrell; four granddaughters: Ginger Turner, Melissa Cantrell, Angela Walden, and Sarah Galloway; six great-grandchildren; her sister Wilma Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews; and many family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Oklahoma Humane Society or a local animal shelter, in honor of Pauline.
A future memorial service for her will be held in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
