Richard "Rick" L Smith of Edmond, OK passed away on December 12, 2008 at the age of 56. He was born March 5, 1952 to Raymond L and Patricia J. (Schmiedbauer ) Smith in Guthrie, OK.
He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1971, and was the Chief of the Radiology department at Children’s Hospital for several years. He retired a few years ago from the State of Oklahoma.
He was a wonderful son, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Smith of Guthrie.
Rick is survived by his two very special daughters, Renee Hall and Erica Highsmith and her husband Daniel along with granddaughter Kensley Grace Highsmith, all of Edmond. Other survivors include his mother, Patricia J. (Schmiedbauer) Smith of Guthrie, brother Stephen and his wife Linda of Guthrie, sister Rita Warshell and her husband Rex of Oklahoma City, OK. Rick was very proud to have Jason Stearns of Edmond as a part of his family. He will be missed by numerous relatives and other close friends.
His greatest joy in life was granddaughter Kensley Grace. Rick was very much looking forward to the birth of his second granddaughter in March 2009.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie with Dr. Dennis E. Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Condolences may be emailed to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net
