Funeral services for Jerry E. Silvers, 78, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dennis E. Clark of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Jerry was born on January 19, 1930 in Guthrie to Elbert and Grace (Reynolds) Silvers. He died Monday, May 19, 2008 in Guthrie.
Jerry married Carolyn McNeil on January 25, 1953 in Mulhall, OK. He was an industrial engineer at Tinker Air Force Base for 33 years, a veteran of the Korean War serving with the 45th Infantry Division, a member of the First Christian Church of Guthrie, Oklahoma National Guard, and a past president of Guthrie Round Up Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; one son, Michael David Silvers and wife Terrie of Guthrie; one brother, Bill Silvers of Guthrie; two granddaughters, Shylia Trout and husband Ashley and Kristie Silvers and fiancé Joe Neil Scheihing; and two great-granddaughters, Ella Grace Trout and Cora Bell Scheihing.
Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, one son Gary Silvers in 1971, two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home Wednesday until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be emailed to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net.
