Stella Mae Selman

Stella M. Selman, 83, of Guthrie, OK passed away December 10, 2012. She was born June 24, 1929 in Lowry, AR, one of eleven children of R.C. and Otie Raines.
Having known each other most of their lives, Stella and Calvin C. Selman were married on July 24, 1945. They moved several times before settling in Guthrie in 1963. Calvin worked most of his life as a heavy equipment mechanic, and Stella helped support the family as a cook and waitress, while raising their six children. She loved cooking for her church family at Noble Avenue Baptist Church and feeding anyone who came to her door. MeMa will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and eight siblings.
She is survived by two sisters; six children Calvin E. Selman and wife Jessica of Guthrie, Carol Barnes and husband Leroy of Guthrie, Donna Keller of Edmond, OK, Jody Ahrnsbrak and husband Mike of Guthrie, Nancy Meek of Edmond, and Diana Hampton and husband Darin of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren Courtney Poplin, Kim Betchan, Kevin Barnes, LaDonna Caldwell, Andy Keller, Mic Ahrnsbrak, Sara Meek, Ali Hall, Jerod Hampton, and Meradith Hampton; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loved family and friends.
A celebration of Stella’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Guthrie.
n lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to the kitchen fund at Noble Avenue Baptist Church, 1219 West Noble Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
