Raymond V. Sears

Raymond V. Sears passed away January 18, 2011 at the age of 83 – after four years at Willow Creek Nursing Home with extended health problems. He was born September 7, 1927 to Everett and Ella Sears.
He spent all of his years in and around Guthrie, OK. At the age of 17, he rode his bicycle to work for Oklahoma Department of Transportation until he was able to buy a car. He retired in 1986, after 39 years.
He loved working and doing things for people. After retirement he worked for Pete Cole Construction Company and lots of area farmers.
In 1983, he married Velda Boles, almost 28 years ago. Together they enjoyed driving the country side, camping and fishing with Logan County Trail Riders, and dancing many miles.
He became disabled in 1995. In 2007 he moved to Willow Creek Nursing Home until his death. Raymond loved his grandkids and they will miss him very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Cecil, LeRoy, and Melvin.
He is survived by his wife of 27 + years, Velda; two daughters Sharon Keirns of Guthrie and Janet Hansen and husband David of Ft. Pierre, SD; grandson Damon Devereaux and wife April of Guthrie; two granddaughters Sherry Burnett and husband Doug of Springfield, MO and Rebecca Taylor of Moore, OK; twelve great-grandchildren Jordan, Layne, Michaela, Shea, and Lynsie Devereaux of Guthrie, Zachery Sykes of Guthrie, Trey, Tanner, and Tatum Burnett of Springfield, MO, and Hunter Kellogg, Terin, and Jayce of Moore; brother Calvin and wife Jane of Guthrie; two sisters Ella Mae Vanorden of Guthrie and Noni Ham and husband John of Edmond, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond’s laughter and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie with Dr. Dennis Clark of First Christian Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The family wished to thank the staff of Willow Creek Nursing Home and Good Shepherd Hospice for his care the last few weeks.
