James "Jimmy" Michael Schmidt

James Michael Schmidt died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home in Coyle. He was 41 years old. James was born September 21, 1973 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Michael and Kathy Schmidt. He attended Coyle Public School, graduating in 1992. He was active in 4-H and the FFA. James enjoyed showing sheep and participated in leadership activities as well as public speaking. He was awarded the State FFA Degree in 1992. James was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Guthrie and a former member of the Coyle Alumni Association.
After graduating from high school, James attended Meridian Technology majoring in culinary arts. Over the last few years, he met the challenges of poor health with a smile and determination to live the most productive life that was possible. James was proficient with a computer and assisted his father in administering his crop insurance business.
James was kind, loving, and very generous. He is survived by his grandparents, John and Virginia Miller of Newkirk, his parents, Mike and Kathy of Coyle, one brother, Jeremy and his wife Abby of Mulhall, a sister Jana Witt and her husband Mike of McCloud, and a sister JoDee Schmidt of Edmond. He is also survived by a nephew, Aaron Schmidt of Coyle and nieces Madison Phillips and Hanna Schmidt both of Mulhall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Wickersham officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coyle Volunteer Fire Department, First Medical Responder Unit, P.O. Box 248, Coyle, OK 73027.
