Margaret “Marie” Roden, 83, of Guthrie, OK went home peacefully to be with the Lord, Monday, September 27, 2010 with her family at her side at Willow Creek Nursing Home, Guthrie. She was born July 1, 1927 in Guthrie.
Marie married Robert Roden on November 6, 1943, the father of her three daughters and one son. She was a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary and worked for Bob’s White Rock Café for ten years and Del Rancho for fourteen years before retiring June 25, 1991. She also was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Guthrie.
The most important part of Marie’s life was her family; evidence of it was the pictures that covered her walls at Willow Creek. She loved working in her flower garden and playing bingo.
She is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Zola Cook, two sisters Martinia Cook and Betty Seagroves, four brothers Buster, Bobby Gene, James, and Robert Cook, and one great-grandson.
Marie is survived by her daughters Shirley Campbell of Oklahoma City, OK, Debbie Reece and husband Tommy, and Kathy Reece and husband Michael; one son Robbie Roden; two sisters Linda Humphrey and Goldie Jay all of Guthrie; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; one step-great-great-grandson that was born on the day of her death; and one great-grandchild due in April.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Jones, Don McBride Jr., Kenny Allen, Jeff McBride, Cory Jones, and Steven McBride.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church, Guthrie with Pastor Robby Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
