Richard Leon Robinette

Richard L. Robinette, 78, of Guthrie, OK passed away on June 16, 2012 in Guthrie after a battle with cancer. He was born on January 19, 1934 in Guthrie to Roy and Mildred (Stone) Robinette.
Richard has lived in Guthrie all of his life and was a member of West Guthrie United Methodist Church. He graduated from Guthrie Highs School in 1952 and Central State University in 1977. He served two years in the U.S. Army and two years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was employed by the Department of Defense for 37 years. He retired as general manager in propulsion Division in 1989.
His hobbies included a love of planes, trains, and woodworking (many projects for the craft fair at the church). He also enjoyed OU football, OU women’s basketball, and women’s softball.
He is survived by his wife Vivian and son Mark both of the home; brother Stanley Robinette and wife Helen of Clovis, CA; sisters-in-law Joan Robinette and Norma Williams both of Guthrie; four nephews; nine nieces; and many cousins and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother LaVere, and one niece Becky Jo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at West Guthrie United Methodist Church with Pastor John Punni officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
