M. Jaree Poston

M. Jaree Poston
May 24, 1938 - September 23, 2015

This week the world lost a great woman and one of the last of a special breed of people. Grandma's philosophy on life was simple; stand for what's right (even if you are the only one standing), work as hard as you can (and then a little harder), and love those around you with everything you have. She lived with the character that you can't help but love, and that the world could use a whole lot more of.

Her parents moved from Grady County during the dustbowl to Hollywood, CA where Jaree was born. After a few years she returned with her family to Oklahoma and they made a life in Guthrie, OK. She raised her kids there and worked very hard at Tinker AFB as a Propulsion Supervisor. She retired in 1995 and moved to Midwest City living next door to her daughter Deann and the grandkids. Retirement presented a new phase of life full of grilled cheese and sleepovers.

She was a grandmother, a hard working single mother, a sister, a bouncing block for thoughts and ideas, and a hug right when it was needed. She was honest, even when you didn't want the truth. She loved playing bingo, making friends online, playing cards with family, and watching her grandchildren grow up.

She taught you valuable lessons; wash the dishes as you make dinner, plants don't grow if you don't water them, and that if you buy her a present she doesn't like she is going to send you right back to try again.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Jenise Phillips and her husband Ronnie, her son Bobby Evans and his wife Janet, and by her daughter Deann McClure and her husband Danny. She has 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren with two more on the way.

She lived a life worth living. She taught the lessons worth knowing. She loved in a way we will always remember.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating.

Interment will follow at Summit View cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Friends and family may sign the online guestbook at www.hayesfh.com.
