Charlotte Laverne Poe

Born: September 25, 1927
Died: February 17, 2009

Graveside funeral services for Charlotte Laverne Poe, 81, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2009 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie with Pastor David Nolen of First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Laverne was born on September 25, 1927 in Healdton, OK to Thomas B. and Viola M. (Garnand) Wages. She died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Laverne graduated from Ardmore High School. She married Herbert Lee Poe on December 7, 1948 and they moved to Guthrie in 1954. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and worked for J.C. Penney for many years. Laverne loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also loved crocheting and crafts. She was a devoted fan of the Guthrie BlueJays and the OU Sooners.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Herb Poe, son Stephen B. Poe and wife Jan, brother LeRoy Wages, step-daughter Phyllis Williams and husband Charlie, two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Thomas B. Wages, Jr., and three sisters Jean Wages, Betty Alexander, and Rosella Ward.

Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
