Francene Kay Phillips

Born: March 02, 1920
Died: August 06, 2010

Francene Kay (Suits) Phillips, 62, passed away in her home Friday, October 1, 2010. She was born March 22, 1948 at Benedictine Heights Hospital in Guthrie, OK to Bud and Dora Suits.

Francene attended school through 3rd grade in Guthrie, and then moved to Coyle, OK where she graduated from Coyle High School.

She married Larry Phillips May 5, 1967 in Coyle. They were blessed with a son, Kris and a daughter, Lori. They lived in Ponca City, OK for 27 years. They attended and were very active in Eastern Heights Christian Church where she played the piano and sang. Francene also loved to write poetry.

Larry and Francene moved to Guthrie in 1995 where they were semi-retired. They attended Life Church in Edmond, OK. Francene was a volunteer with Logan County Literacy Council and was teaching English to Hispanic adults.

Francene leaves behind her husband Larry; son Kristen Kyle Phillips of the home; grandson Brandon Foglesong of Amarillo, TX; granddaughter Mikah Phillips of Miami, OK; sister Judy Elston and husband Glen of Guthrie; step-sisters Donna Stout of Guthrie and Fannie Smalley of Coyle; and many nieces and nephews. Her many good friends from Coyle, Ponca City, and Guthrie will miss her very much.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bud Suits and Dora Suits Bentley; step-father Earnest Bentley; baby brother Robert Leland Suits, and daughter Lori Jan Foglesong.

Francene will be remembered for her love of helping people, especially through the many notes and cards she sent. She always knew the right words to say. Anyone who knew her loved her.

She will be missed by her family and friends, but she has moved to the most wonderful Home of all with her Heavenly Father.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Associate Pastor Mark Berry of Eastern Heights Christian Church of Ponca City officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Logan County Literacy Council, 201 North Division Street, Guthrie, OK 73044.
