Eugene M. "Tennessee" Paschall

Born: July 07, 1937
Died: September 14, 2011

Eugene Murry "Tennessee" Paschall, 74, of Guthrie, OK passed away from this earth September 14, 2011 in Guthrie. He was born July 7, 1937 in Perry County, TN to Elmer Cleveland and Sarah (Kimble) Paschall of Linden, TN.

Gene attended Perry County High School in Linden, TN where he is a legendary basketball star and is recognized as the only player in Tennessee history to start in four pre-classification State tournament teams, winning three consecutive State championships and prestigiously honored by retiring his number 6 jersey. Gene is a subject in the book "The Boys in Black" and is featured in the book "Field of Dreamers". He came to Oklahoma after being recruited by Henry Iba and awarded a basketball scholarship to Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in Stillwater. Once in Oklahoma, he became fascinated by the oilfield industry and made it his life-long career.

Gene had three children from his first marriage and then married Helen Harvey, his wife of 26 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Ewell Paschall, Lowell Paschall, and James Paschall, his son Eugene Mark Paschall, and his beloved wife Helen.

Gene is survived by his son Robin Paschall and wife Christie of Wilmington, NC; his daughter Michelle Loftis and husband Eric of Norman, OK; grandchildren Shawn Paschall, Erica Loftis, and Taylor Loftis, brothers Elmer Haggard Paschall of Lawrenceville, GA and M.H. Paschall of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2011 at Summit View Cemetery with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
