Beverly Nissley Parsons, age 88 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away February 8, 2017 in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born on December 29, 1928 in Coronado, California to Col John K and Ethel (Douglas) Nissley.
Beverly attended college at the University of Kansas and graduated from Woodbury College in California with a bachelors degree in Interior Design. That is where she met Jack Parsons, whom she fell in love with and married on August 14, 1952 in Pasadena, California. They established their home in Southern California and had two children, Jill and Scott.
Beverly loved spending time at the beach and sailing with Jack. In 1972, they moved to Guthrie and she worked at Gangwer Lumber for several years. Later, she sold advertising for the Guthrie Daily Leader, where she eventually retired. She and Jack also owned and operated a gourmet kitchen and gift shop in the Victor Mall called Parsons and Company. Beverly had a love for music, the ocean, painting, flower gardening, playing bridge and cooking. She was a member of Jonquil Garden Club of Guthrie, PEO, was active in bridge group as well as coffee club. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and she loved teasing family and the staff of Ash Street and Golden Age Nursing Home.
Survivors include her daughter Jill Karcher and husband Fred of Blanchard, son Scott Parsons and wife Renee of Edmond, her sister Rosemary Bellis and husband General Ben Bellis of Monument, Colorado, as well as three nieces and one nephew, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jack on March 27, 2000.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Age Nursing Home and Ash Street for the wonderful care and support that they gave her.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating.
Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
