Susan Anna May Owen
Graveside funeral services for Susan Anna May (Lewis) Owen, 99 of Guthrie, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Summit View Cemetery with Chaplin Eugene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Anna May was born April 18, 1918 on a farm Northeast of Guthrie, Oklahoma to Henry and Loretta May (Robinson) Lewis. She died Friday, July 21, 2017 (at Tahlequah Health System in Tahlequah, Oklahoma). She was a member of the Community Church of Guthrie, Noble Avenue Baptist Church, and the Meridian Church. She worked as a Cub Scout den mother for ten years in Mulhall, Oklahoma, and worked 25 years on the Meridian election board. She also took care of the Cooper Cemetery for over thirty years.
She married William Argus Owen in January, 1936 at Watonga, Oklahoma and they had celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary in January 2010 before William passed away in August that year. She spent all of her married life helping her husband with their farm and Postal Service highway mail contracts, raising three boys and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, William R. Owen of Mesquite, Texas, Philip M. and Janet (Stitzel) Owen of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Dale E. and Cynthia (Porter) Owen of Perry, Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Eloise Owen, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Anna May was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, three brothers, and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
