Kenneth L. Mitchell passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, December 29, 2015 following a long illness. He was born at home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Marvin L. and Zelda Mae (Nelson) Mitchell on September 29, 1948.
He is survived by his son, Maj. Kenneth L. Mitchell, of Edmond, Okla., and his daughter, Kathryn Jean Kretchmar, of Ponca City, Okla.; his step-son Nik Labus, of Guthrie, and Geoff Coleman, of Colorado; five grandchildren: Caitlin Shea and Teagan Erina Mitchell, of Oklahoma City; Jonathan Mitchell of Oklahoma City; Mikaela Mitchell, of Ponca City; and Abbey Johnson of Ponca City and one great-grandchild Olivia Mitchell of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his mother, Zelda Mae Mitchell, and his sister, Linda K. Hilburn, both of Guthrie.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Pam Nelson Mitchell, and his father, Marvin L. Mitchell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the Church of God of Prophecy, 624 N. 17th Street. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
