Ethel married Joseph Meier at the courthouse in Guthrie on December 11, 1929, with Joseph’s sister and brother in law, Mary and Ernest Balsiger, as attendants. The couple raised their family and farmed and raised cattle west of Coyle, not far from where she was born.

Ethel lived on the farm west of Coyle, near her birthplace all of her life. She was a kind and hard working wife and Mother and was always loving, tender and kind to all who knew her.

She could milk cows of a morning and have a fried chicken country dinner on the table by 12 noon for any amount of farm help, complete with her delicious home made pies and breads.

She especially enjoyed family and friends coming to the farm to ride horses, fish, play softball, jump rope and “snipe hunt.” Rocking on the front porch on Sunday evening, visiting with family and friends and making homemade ice cream was a regular. She loved to talk to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren about “the olden days” of walking to school in the snow, picking cotton, cooking on a wood stove and sewing clothes from feed sacks when she was a child.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday mornijng until 9:30 AM.

Memorials may be made to the Choice Hospice, 1 NW 64th st., Suite A-1, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
