Funeral services for Phyllis May McNutt, 87, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike DeMoss of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Phyllis was born on September 13, 1925 in Bartlesville, OK to Mark William and Alice May (Akers) Hess. She passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Guthrie.
She is survived by her son Peter McNutt of Guthrie; grandson Matthew McNutt and wife Karen of Choctaw, OK; granddaughter Shayna Alston of Midwest City, OK; great-grandchildren Krystopher and Conner Alston and Kaleb and Kaden McNutt; and sister Helen Bobbitt of Dewey, OK.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill McNutt, son John McNutt, grandson Krystopher McNutt, two brothers, and one sister.
Phyllis enjoyed her canasta club meetings, doing crossword puzzles, and loved singing hymns to her children and grandchildren, a tradition that her grandchildren have carried on. She was the secretary at First United Methodist Church for many years and also volunteered at Logan Medical Center.
Visitation will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 East 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.
