Graveside funeral services for Irene Justine McCullough, 89, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Summit View Cemetery with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Irene was born on March 25, 1923 in Idabel, OK to Carlton Robert and Lovie Anne (Boulton) Daniel. She passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012 in Guthrie.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Irene met the love of her life, Kenneth, in 1943 while waiting table at a small café in Idabel, OK.
While Kenneth was serving with the Marines during World War II, she did her part as a Rosie the Riveter in Tulsa, OK at a canning company that had been converted to assemble airplanes.
She loved her life as a homemaker and spent many hours with Kenneth in their yard, many times receiving the yard of the week award in Guthrie.
Irene put her children first above everything else. Irene just celebrated her 89th birthday and 69th wedding anniversary on March 23, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle Kitzman of Arkansas; brother Leo Daniel of Colorado; three sisters Miriam Teschler of Las Vegas, NV, Marketta Matheny of Claremore and June Duffy both of Claremore, OK; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, and one son Michael Dale McCullough.
