Betty Ruth McCoy

Born: October 04, 1932
Died: December 26, 2008

Funeral Services for Betty Ruth McCoy, 76, of Guthrie, OK were held Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Brother Dan Vreeland of Guthrie Gospel Church officiating. Burial followed at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services were conducted by Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Betty Ruth McCoy was born October 4, 1932 in Pensacola, FL to Rosie (Manning) and U.J. Watson. She died Friday, December 26, 2008 in Guthrie.

Betty was wed to Bobby Noel McCoy June 9, 1952 in Pascagoula, MS. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1986.

Betty is survived by two sons Bobby N. McCoy, Jr. and wife Karen of Edmond, OK and Dennis McCoy and wife Shiree of Rockwall, TX; three daughters Linda Hicks and husband Stanley of Yukon, OK, Cindy Jurina and husband Bob of Guthrie, and Christy Barker and husband Bennie of Guthrie.

Betty especially cherished her twelve grandchildren; Michelle, Jennifer, Jessica, Mayme, Jason, Ryan, Christina, Kimberly, Christopher, Sean, Heather and Jared. She also loved her eleven great-grandchildren: Khylie, Heath JR, Donnell, Julius, Jacob, Caleb, Daniel, Nicholas, Candice, Brenden and Elijah.

Betty loved cooking large meals and having family gatherings. She loved to sing while working in the kitchen and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a kind and caring woman and loved her pets, especially her devoted dog Daisy. She also had a wonderful green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers which brought much beauty to the neighborhood.

Betty worked for Western Electric and AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies in 1990. She was a member of the Telecom Pioneers.

In addition to her beloved husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Elmer and sisters Ruby and Ida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma/Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association, 6465 South Yale Avenue, Suite 312, Tulsa, OK 74136-7810.
