Paul Melvin Mahar

Paul Melvin Mahar, Jr. went to be with his Lord, Saturday morning, May 5, 2012, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 4, 1951, the son of Goldie Mae (Muzingo) and Paul M. Mahar, Sr. Paul graduated from Guthrie High School, class of 1969. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by Crescent Pipe & Supply. He loved his job and the customers. He was especially close to his boss, Richard, and appreciated all the help and support he gave through his illness.
Paul was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and was a loyal member of Masonic Guthrie Lodge #35 and KCCH. He was also a 32 Degree member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Pati in 2010. He is survived by his mother, Goldie; daughter Sarah Hillian and husband James of Norman, OK; sons Greg Mahar of Oklahoma City, OK and Aaron Fike of Stillwater, OK; grandson Jacob Hillian; sister Nancy Montgomery and husband Buddy of Guthrie; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at First United Presbyterian Church. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. At the request of the family, the casket will not be open at any time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, 102 East Noble Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044.
