Funeral services for Edith L. Lowry, 86, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor David Nolen officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Edith was born on November 18, 1921 in Stillwater, OK to Robert and Ida May (Reupert) Harris. She died Monday, April 7, 2008 in Guthrie.
Edith was a homemaker most of her life and a lifetime member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie, Women’s Missionary Union at First Southern Baptist Church, and a children’s Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed being a part of the Victorian Singers and the Logan County Home Extension Club.
She is survived by her three daughters, Judith Elaine Box and her husband Earl of Wister, OK, Linda Sue Knox and her husband Gregg of Edmond, OK, and Terry McLaughlin and her husband Ernie of Howe, TX; six grandchildren, Sheryl Pettis, Charlene Helms, Angela Lowry, Charles Cecil Downey, Lisa Christiansen, and Julie Roberson; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie in 2004; one daughter, Roberta Lowry in 1967; two sons, Phillip Ray Lowry in 1971 and John Edward Lowry in 1992; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-great granddaughter; and two brothers, Lloyd Harris and Kenneth Harris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church, 202 East Noble, Guthrie, OK 73044. Condolences may be emailed to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net
