Funeral services for Dorothy Ruth Knight, 87, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Reverend John E. Borrego officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Dorothy Ruth was born on January 21, 1925 in Guthrie to Joseph Peter and Muriel (Van Hoozer) Carey. She passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 in Guthrie.
Dorothy Ruth married Lark Knight on June 13, 1944 in Guthrie. She was a member of PEO and Daughters of the King.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Knight of Guthrie and Joseph Knight of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Katherine Runnels of Placentia, CA; one sister, Jean Van Orden of Muskogee, OK; four grandchildren, David Runnels, Jeff Runnels, Josh Knight, and Katie Atkins; and one great-grandson, Griffin Runnels.
Dorothy Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Jo Talbott.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. At the family’s request, the casket will not be open at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lunch on Noble, 310 East Noble Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044 or the American Lung Association, 11212 North May Avenue, Suite 405, Oklahoma City, OK 73120-6335.
