Funeral services for Doris Fern Jones, 96, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2010 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Doris was born on April 17, 1914 in York, NE to William G. and Emily C. (Jose) Kimball. She passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Guthrie.
Doris was an active member of Noble Avenue Baptist Church and loved to travel. She enjoyed her tours very much, but mostly she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons W.L. "Bill" Jones and wife Gerri of Guthrie and Charles E. Jones and wife Rosa Lee of Guthrie; one daughter Fern Vaughn and husband Percy of Newton, KS; one nephew Don VanOstrand of Casper, WY; one niece Carol McKay and husband Ray of Clatonia, NE; eight grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Leroy Jones, daughter-in-law Ruth Jones, and sister Erma VanOstrand.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Thursday, 3:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Noble Avenue Baptist Church, 1219 West Noble Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044.
