Inez Joyce Johnson

Inez Joyce Meek Johnson was born July 30, 1928 in Mannford, OK to Jesse and Rose Lee (Bullington) Meek. She married Roy Lewis Johnson on November 11, 1945 in Inman, KS. She passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Guthrie, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
The first few years of Roy and Inez’s marriage were spent living in a bunk car on the Santa Fe Railroad. They settled in Coyle, OK in the early 1950’s. Inez spent most of her adult years caring for and attending the many activities of children and grandchildren. They never missed a ballgame and were presented with an award for being the biggest fans and supporters. She worked for a few years at the OSU Student Union until her health forced her into retirement. She was a member of the Coyle Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lawrence Meek and Carl Meek, husband Roy, one grandchild Kerry Lynn Walker, and one great-grandchild Kaitlin Rose McGuire.
She is survived by a brother Gene Meek and Gladys of Lyons, KS; sister Della Ellwood and Galland of Windom, KS; five children Connie Walker and Owen of Perkins, OK, Sandy Darby of Perkins, Doris Bareiss and Drew of Guthrie, Janet Maker and Ted of Guthrie, and David Johnson and Jeanie of Guthrie; grandchildren Scott and Cathy Walker, Becky Walker, Dawnita and Rod McGuire, Necia and Stewart Kimber, Leon and Becca Lewis, Ryan and Emma Long, Clayton and Bethany Long, Daman Bareiss and Crystal Beck, Blake and Summer Johnson, Jared and Charissa Johnson, Chad and Melissa Maker, and Cory and Heather Maker; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law Elsie Meek, Louella Williams, Norma Johnson, and Velma McCoy.
The family would like to thank Shirley, Linda, Phyllis, Ampara, and the rest of the care giving staff at Golden Age Nursing Home for their kind and loving care of Mom over the last five + years. We are very grateful.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Companion Hospice, 1314 East Oklahoma Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044. Visitation will be Thursday, 2:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
